Michel Mane to participate in the 2015 UEBT meeting

The Union for Ethical BioTrade will organise in Paris, on the 25th of June 2015, its annual meeting conference entitled “Beauty of Sourcing with Respect – Biodiversity for Sustainable Development for Beauty, Health & Food”.

On this occasion Michel Mane, President of the Americas Region and of the MANE Foundation, will take part in the roundtable discussion “Negotiating ABS: practical examples” in a spirit of intercultural dialogue and sharing of experiences.

Launched in October 2007, the Union for Ethical BioTrade is a non-profit association that promotes the ‘Sourcing with Respect’ of ingredients that come from biodiversity. Members adopt sourcing practices that advance sustainable business growth, local development and biodiversity conservation. UEBT was created in 2007 as a spin off from the United Nations to promote business engagement in BioTrade.

The idea behind forming the Union was born out of the need expressed by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in developing countries for ways to differentiate BioTrade products in the market. It stems from efforts initiated by the BioTrade Initiative of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), which was created to contribute to international efforts to promote sustainable development and biodiversity conservation.
